PERSONA AND USER RESEARCH

As our app has grown our customers have changed, but our original personas are still a conscious part of every design decision.

We realized we are a good fit for small to medium dev teams with growing infrastructures.  We worked with different engineering teams and categorized them into 4 different personas. We asked, “what problem are we solving with each new feature and how would we market to each specific persona?”

Site Map

Structure and planning for each update based on analytics and sales feedback.

Our marketing team and content team reported weekly trends, analytics, and sales findings. We adjusted our site structure and content to better fit the needs of our users by updating content based on the findings and adding trending content on the main site, blog, and glossary to increase page views each week.

Industry Research

Do we stand out in the crowd? Let's compare our site design and content to others in our industry.

I worked with marketing to keep our site current with industry standards and kept a close eye on others in our space to make sure our site was relevant. By watching trends we are able to take advantage of larger teams’ research and apply the findings to our site design and content.

Whiteboard and Content Planning

Plan, ask questions and write it all down on a big whiteboard.

Working with our amazing content and marketing team makes my job easier. We vet out multiple ideas together based on findings from data. We plan what sections we need to design, what screenshots or illustrations are needed then generate content as a team. Planning together works and keeps the team involved.

MARKETING WEBSITE Wireframes

Low-fidelity wireframes working together with the content team to visualize the design before doing high fidelity mockups and building in Hubspot.

I worked with the marketing and content team to design and build out the site in HubSpot. Designed the site to match the brand image we were building in the app. I quickly learned how to take advantage of Hubspot’s features and flaws to make a marketing site to help bring in leads.

High-fidelity Website.

Worked with content to plan, design, and built out the marketing site in Hubspot.

Multiple redesigns of the site since 2018.

Following industry leaders and conversion data from the marketing team, I planned, redesigned, and built multiple marketing sites in Hubspot.

App Illustrations

Stylized versions of the app features.

After finishing new features in the Blue Matador app I worked with the marketing team to create stylized versions of product features. We used these illustrations on the marketing site, landing pages, email, and across social media.

Outcome

The success of our product comes from happy customers.

I started when Blue Matador was just an idea. We worked to build a product that companies have paid for. That’s a great thing to be part of. View the video we made to showcase one of our customers experience.

Guerrilla Marketing

Branded poker chips and ice cream for AWS re:Invent in Sin City.

How do you stick out in the largest AWS conference in sin city? Give people what they want – poker chips and something sweet. I designed, sourced, and lead the guerrilla marketing effort to hand out ice cream and branded poker chips in exchange for AWS re:Invent badge scans/ potential business contacts. We planned to gather around 100 scans, but the campaign was successful that we gathered over 1000 names before we were shut down by the event organizers. Lesson learned. Next year no guerrilla marketing in a casino. Overall it was a great team-building experience and we generated a number of sales leads.
